Tour of the Castle of Santa Severa and the Wine Tasting in a little Family run local Winery

The Santa Severa Castle is one of the most important monuments of historical and archaeological interest on the Tyrrhenian coast, north of Rome.
The castle (14th cent), which is by the sea, stands on the site of the etruscan port of Pyrgi, then conquered by the Romans in the 3rd century b.C. A straight stretch of the mighty polygonal walls of the Roman town still survives while the Castle houses an interesting display of the findings unearthed in the area starting from ancient times to the Middle Ages. A short visit to the Museum of the Ancient Navigation will give you the chance to see and touch the original anphoras and vessels found in the Etruscan and Roman shipwrecks discoverd on the seabed along the coast.
After the visit of the Castle, you could enjoy a tour of a local winery closeby and taste its local organic produce and 5 tipologies of wines.

(From July 1st to Sept 8th the Castle will be closed during the morning and will open at 5.00 pm.)
